Turkey: Committee Under the Mecca Agreement to Meet Tomorrow in Riyadh

Al-Taj News – The Turkish Foreign Ministry said Sunday that a committee under the Mecca Agreement on joint defense between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan will hold talks in Riyadh tomorrow, Monday, in the presence of senior Turkish officials.

Rashad Al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen’s Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council, announced earlier Sunday the launch of a large-scale military operation against the Iran-aligned Yemeni Houthi group to regain control of territories under its control.

Pakistan’s foreign minister said Friday that Iran had proposed engaging politically with the Houthis following the attacks carried out by the group, an idea that the committee will discuss at its meeting in Riyadh this week.

The Turkish statement said, “The meeting will address recent developments in the region and the stage reached in efforts to institutionalize the alliance.”
